About

Hey there! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I am Vinit Shahdeo, a Software Engineer from India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ who adores JavaScript!

Here goes my story โคต๏ธ

I was introduced to the computer during my school days at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, where I studied till my Class X. Back in 2009, while everyone in the town was going crazy about creating an account on Facebook and Orkut, I was busy wondering how these sites work. I used to inspect the source code and make some fun changes, which made me feel like Mr. Robot. This triggered my interest in coding.

It was my curiosity in technology that nurtured my interest into passion. After finishing my schooling from Delhi Public School Bokaro Steel City, I went to Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) to pursue my engineering in 2015. From being a new kid on the block to a dab hand at coding, I surely have built a beautiful story during my four unforgettable years at VIT. I led two student communities - VinnovateIT and CodeChef VIT Chapter. The fun and memories of our events is something that Iโ€™ll cherish forever.

My journey at VIT varied from sleeping during classes to spending sleepless nights acing my coding skills, from missing assignments to securing positions at hackathons and mostly from being turned down by 22 companies to getting multiple job offers.

I didnโ€™t even realize when these four years passed and finally after a roller-coaster ride of campus placements, I got a job at Postman back in 2018.

Addiction to green dots ๐Ÿ’ป

My charitable motivation, coupled with a passion for what I am doing, inspires me for open source. I have been contributing on GitHub since my early college days. I am addicted to green dots on GitHub. I have been part of many open-source programs like Google Summer Of Code, GirlScript Summer Of Code, Rails Girls Summer Of Code, etc.

Recently I got recognized as a GitHub Star for my contributions to the open-source community. From a (green) dot to a star, here's how my journey uncoiled!

I highly believe that if you're a techie your homepage should be GitHub, not Instagram.
